This project explores design as a form of spatial storytelling that supports and guides narrative. In my stage design practice, I investigate how architectural elements shape performance, movement, and audience experience. I designed and art directed two outdoor stage sets for The Happy Prince, an invited production at the 2024 Aranya International Theatre Festival. The first set, located in a park in Berkeley, transformed an existing descending stair topology into a natural stage, with spatial elements choreographed to follow the story’s progression. The second set, situated in a flat marsh landscape, required a freestanding intervention. I designed a semicircular platform that functioned simultaneously as stage and throne, creating a clear focal point for performance while adapting to site constraints. Across both sites, the project treats architecture as an active narrative framework—one that organizes movement, focus, and meaning through space.
